Before washing
Shake clothes outside, use a lint roller or rubber glove, and avoid sending heavy hair straight into the washer. A short low-heat dryer cycle before washing can loosen hair so the lint trap catches more of it.
During laundry
Wash pet-hair-covered clothes separately when possible, avoid overloading the machine, and clean the lint trap after every dryer cycle. Dryer sheets or wool dryer balls can help reduce static that makes hair cling.
Prevention helps most
Regular brushing, washable couch covers, car seat covers, and a lint roller by the door make the problem easier to manage before hair gets embedded in clothing.
