What was recognized
On April 7, the Truckee Town Council presented an Earth Day proclamation to Caltrans District 3. The recognition also highlighted Truckee's September 2025 designation as a Clean California Community.
The Town says Truckee was among the first 30 communities statewide to receive that designation, with a sign now posted at the entrance to Town Hall.
Why it matters locally
Clean streets, trails, and public spaces are not just cosmetic in a mountain town. Litter reduction supports water quality, wildlife, recreation, tourism, and community pride.
The larger Clean California effort began in 2021, and the Town says the statewide initiative has removed more than 3.5 million cubic yards of trash over five years.
How to participate
Truckee residents can support the same goals by joining community cleanups, reducing single-use waste, using local recycling and composting programs correctly, and following Keep Truckee Green updates.
Earth Day is one moment on the calendar, but Truckee's sustainability work shows up all year through cleanup events, waste programs, education, and public-space stewardship.
