What happened
The Town of Truckee and Sierra Community House hosted the annual Dia del Nino celebration on April 30 at the Community Arts Center and park. The free event welcomed more than 300 participants.
Families moved between indoor and outdoor activities, including food, crafts, games, a photobooth, bracelet making, coloring, magnet crafts, and kid-friendly community booths.
Community resources
The event was not only a celebration. Local partners used the gathering to share resources, screenings, and information with families in an approachable setting.
The Town noted participation from Tahoe Forest Hospital, TDPUD, Community Organizations Active in Disaster, Nevada County, Kidz Community, SOS Outreach, Truckee Fire Protection District, Sierra Community House, and other community partners.
Why it stands out
Events like Dia del Nino matter because they make civic life feel welcoming for families with children. They also create a bridge between cultural celebration and practical support, which is especially valuable in a region where services can feel spread out.
